Belated Wondercon Comment
Here is a rare text only message to all those who may have come out to Wondercon and visited my and Samuel's booth over the past weekend, and may have now found yourselves at my art blog. I just wanted to say that as an artist, I (and most others) spend the majority of our time inside whatever space we have to call a studio, alone and cut off from the world. We delve into our own private worlds from which we pull inspiration with which to work, but despite the worlds, characters, and stories we conjure up when we work, we still sit there in solitude with our work.
Its very easy in this environment to detach from reality, to obsess over the flaws in our work, and to doubt our very ability to create something worth creating. It is very easy to be overtaken by these doubts, and I think are a major block in many artists careers.
I have been hit be these feelings before, and I'm sure I will again, however, the reaction and outpouring of positivity from all those who go to conventions like Wondercon, or APE or any number of other con where aspiring artists or self publishers go to show their work is absolutely invaluable. The willingness of people like yourselves to take the time to look at no name artists and publishers, and appreciate the work they do validates every hour/day/week spent in a solitary studio.
I can not adequately express my gratitude to every person who took the time to come to the con. My thanks to any and all that come out to visit us.
